Guest Post: Should you hire an SEO Company or Do It Yourself?
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to save a little money while still getting your brand name out there. The difficult decision to make, however, is if you want to sacrifice hiring a professional in order to save a quick buck. We at PayFrog merchant services wanted to hire an SEO company but didn’t know if it was worth the money either. Here’s what we found.
DIY SEO Work
Pros: The main benefit of doing your own SEO work is that it’s free… Or is it? You’re a business owner, so you know all too well that nothing is really free. You spend your own time researching the most effective way to get more traffic on to your site, which is most likely cheaper than paying a professional to do it. If you don’t hire an SEO company, another benefit you can enjoy is ensuring that your SEO worker (yourself) knows everything there is to know about your company. You will know which sites you appear on with backlinks and you’ll learn quickly which are high authority backlinks.
Cons: Doing your own SEO work can save you money, but only if you’re not spending a lot of time on it. And if you’re not spending time on it, you’re likely not getting anywhere. If you’re serious about SEO, you may want to download a program that provides a “keyword analysis” option. This analyzes your competition for a specific keyword you’re competing for on Google. The program takes up space, still costs you money, and requires many training videos to master.
Or Hire an SEO Company
Pros: If you hire an SEO company, you are now competing with websites that probably hired one too. This puts you on the same playing field and ensures you’re beating out the competition that didn’t hire an SEO company. You can now focus on your core business activities. Also, your money isn’t just going to their work, you’re also paying to be taught by an expert about how SEO works. Now, if you weren’t happy with the results you got in the first three months, you have enough industry knowledge to do it yourself.
Cons: There is no guarantee that you’ll have a return on your investment with SEO. You are paying for a service that charges regardless of results. Some business owners have a hard time coming up with the expense, then become disappointed when it doesn’t double their book of business. SEO increases traffic, not necessarily revenue. A very successful SEO representative could bring loads of traffic to your site, but you won’t see any spike in business if you don’t have an attractive website and a good business ethic.
The people at PayFrog ultimately recommend you hire an SEO company. The initial investment you’re making for the service will pay off eventually, even if you don’t see immediate results. We saw a huge spike in Google ranking our first few months of SEO. This brought customers to our site, and our local merchant services sealed the deal for many potential clients! Make sure that the company you choose has good reviews and accepts credit cards. This provides protection if they do not give quality service. You can dispute the charge if you received little to no results. Do your research to find the best one for you, and reach out to get more information. Good luck with your brand marketing!
